So Where Is Matt Now?

This was shared during the church service yesterday.  How it came about in the preaching is a long story.  Hahaha!  So I'm not going to repeat the more than two hours preaching to explain how we got to this video.  I guess it has to do with doing what you love and being passionate about it.  I don't really get the whole idea of why Matt Harding is doing this, but traveling around the world is pretty cool, I think.  Just seeing all those places and interacting with different people is a very rich experience.  Suffice to say that he made me smile and I'm sure he made other people happy with his bad dancing.  Dancing is not his talent, definitely...it's something else.  I read he's making a 2011 video.  This one is his video last 2008.  I just realized that when you love what you do, it is very infectious....and happiness is a universal thing.

Gali and His Heavenly Piano Music

Visitors of this blog couldn't fail to notice the music playing in the background.  The first one you'll hear is "Maybe" by Korean pianist, Yiruma.  If you have stayed long enough on this site, I am sure you must have heard of that piano version of the worship song "From the Inside Out."  It's one of my favorite songs.  And it seems, Gali is also a fan of Hillsongs' music.

Who is Gali?  The best way to get a glimpse of this man is by reading his bio in his own site Gali - Heaven's Sounds ... Here on Earth.  Don't freak out if you do not understand Spanish.  There's a button somewhere in the site that says "in English."  I find his story inspiring simply because he discovered his calling at a very early age.  Okay so maybe he was unaware of it at 5 years old.  But it seems that from that time his father bought a keyboard, the first time he set his fingers on it must have been a defining moment in his life.

I suppose, another way of getting to know this great musician, is of course by his music.  Here's Gali doing his cover of another worship song by Hillsongs.  Some of you may be familiar with it, but before you hit that play button, please scroll down, all the way to the bottom of this blog and press the pause button of my Mixpod, so that you won't be hearing two different music at the same time.

You might be wondering why I said music is his calling.  Quoting from his site, here's why I thought of that :
Within his entire musical success, GALÍ has never ceased to move away from the original purpose in music which is to positively affect the heart of the people through the talent God gave him as a child.
I couldn't think of a better way to express gratitude for the talents God gave us than by using it to glorify Him and bless others.  How I wish I were like that with my guitar...very passionate, focused, and intense for the craft.  I suppose it's not yet too late for me hahaha! Oh by the way, at the home page of Gali's site, you'll find this box that says "Musica Gratis."  It simply means, free music, so go on and get free samplers of his original music.  I downloaded some of it already and quite enjoying the sounds of heavenly music.

On Prayer

I have just been to the company clinic early this morning at half past 6am to have my blood pressure checked. It's been going haywire for three weeks now and I suspect, it has been like that for even longer. It shoots up to as high as 160/100, going down to only as low as 120/80. If I am probably in my 50's, I wouldn't wonder and would probably accept it as age, lifestyle and genes finally catching up on me. But I am still a long way off from that! It's too soon, even if it runs in the family. What I find harder to accept is that I have always thought I am fit.  To be proven wrong by those two numbers is something that can be really frustrating.

Basking in the Morning Light

life, nature,musings

It's probably not a good idea to stare directly into the sun. Still, that did not prevent me from doing so, as I saw sunlight streaming through my window. I just had to look, even for just a few seconds before I closed my eyes, smiling while savoring the warmth of it. It's one of those things I miss doing when I rush through the day. But today, I went to the office earlier than usual. So I got to see a part of nature that I miss most often to beat the clock.

It's still a bit of a cloudy day, and so it is a good thing to see the sun peeking through the clouds. It's like life...you know there will be dark and gloomy days but you also know that the sun is just there, going for a break in the clouds, to spread its light and warmth on all of us.

That kind of gets you the feeling and assurance that everything will be alright...because the sun always shines, no matter what the weather may be. You just need to find time to look for it and appreciate its beauty.

Nature always inspires me. And I just love quiet mornings...I think a cup of coffee would be a great idea now.

Dew Drops

Pearly dewdrop roses., originally uploaded by e³°°°.

Dew drops on flowers in full bloom...it's just so refreshing to look at. So pretty. I just love pink and peach roses. When I close my eyes, I could almost smell the roses.

I'm just relaxing here. Nature has that effect on me, even if only in pictures.

Pink Sunrise

I often look up in the sky just outside my office window. The sky was a girly pink early this morning as the sun was slowly rising on the horizon. I tried to take some pictures but I just couldn't quite capture the beauty that was slowly fading away. It was such a refreshing sight to behold and I paused a while to marvel in that awesome sight.

There is always something refreshing and a bit magical about a sunrise, more so if it's colored pink! I almost wondered if fairies would suddenly appear hahaha! I love watching how the day unfolds, waking up with a yawn from a deep slumber. Soon, the sunlight would be flooding the day and it's time to go with the daily grind once again...but not without having that fresh cup of coffee first. Ahhhh...that is the way to start the day.

Yiruma's "Maybe"

This is a very uplifting music from Yiruma.  As always, his music moves me.  I guess words are not enough to describe how wonderful it is.  You need to listen...and feel it in you.  It's like looking at a a beautiful painting and seeing more than what the eyes tell you.  So I won't say much anymore except that I am again amazed and truly inspired because this music makes me think about the beauty of life.  So, I hope you will enjoy this as much as I did.

Yiruma's "River Flows in You"

A fellow writer mentioned this song to me.  Thankful that he did.  If there is such a thing as falling in love with a song, then I am totally smitten.  I can't get enough of listening to this particular song that I keep playing it over and over.  Yiruma is simply awesome.  Click here to check out this musical genius.  "River Flows in You"  is also called "Bella's Lullaby" in the movie "Twilight."  That figures why I never came across this one before because I didn't watch that vampire series.  Here's Yiruma doing the original on piano.

I've been searching YouTube for different covers of this song.  I also love this guitar version done by Sungha Jung, another Korean and a musical prodigy.

Am also looking for a good harp version, but unsuccessful at the moment.  I have requested one harpist in YouTube and I'm hoping he will oblige.  Will keep you posted.  Meanwhile, just enjoy this music.

Finishing the Race

Was it the music?  Or is it the analogy in my own life that made tears fall?  We've all fallen down so many times in our lives.  Sometimes we wonder if we still have the strength to stand up and finish the race.  One thing I know...we never give up on life until we breathe our last...

Power of the Mind

I got this from yesterday's preaching.  I wasn't able to get who the author was but I feel it's worth sharing here.

" The mind is a garden that could be cultivated to produce the harvest that we desire.
The mind is a workshop where the important decisions of life and eternity are made.
The mind is an armory where we forge the weapons of our victory or our destruction.
The mind is a battlefield where all the decisive battles of life are won or lost."

That is how powerful the mind is.  Needless to say, we have to watch what we feed our minds.  As they say garbage in, garbage out.

I Am a Filipino

I remember Carlos P. Romulo's speech "I Am a Filipino." It was quite a lengthy piece that I had to memorize for speech class but I still have a lot of brain cells back in high school days so I was able to memorize it. To this day, I still remember one paragraph that says :
