Skipped Class

I skipped Taiji class last night.  Bad, bad.... I was actually on my way, and was expecting I would be there on time because I left the house 1.5 hours before the start of class.  I thought there was ample time for travel.  Was wrong though.  It rained about 15 minutes after I got a ride.  And then the worst possible thing, a heavy traffic ensued.  It took me an hour to get to the first stop when it normally takes just 30 minutes or less.  There was no way anymore that I could reach class on time so I decided to just go back.  Well, Taiji class is for me to relax and unwind.  How is that possible if I am already harassed just going to class?  I just don't like running for class and wet in the rain....No more of that.  That has happened more than twice already.  This Thursday, I will just leave even earlier.  That way, even if I'm caught up on traffic, I will still make it on time.

I missed a class...but at least I prevented myself from being more agitated by the traffic.  Less stress...much better.  I just rested.  Sometimes you have to learn to give up on some things.

Finishing the Race

Was it the music?  Or is it the analogy in my own life that made tears fall?  We've all fallen down so many times in our lives.  Sometimes we wonder if we still have the strength to stand up and finish the race.  One thing I know...we never give up on life until we breathe our last...

Per-Olov Kindgren on Classical Guitar

I have always loved guitar playing, specially during my high school days. I'd play during music class or on church service at school. I've been into guitars since I was just ten but I stopped playing for quite sometime and as you know, my fingers are a bit rusty and has lost some of its dexterity because of lack of practice. Seeing this classical guitarist made me want to pursue guitar playing again but on a new level. But first, I need to buy a good classical guitar.

Mr. Kindgren's story and his passion for music has really inspired me to become a better guitar player.  I stumbled upon his site on You Tube.  I was actually looking for a cover of Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven."  Then I saw his rendition of the song.  Wow.  I wanted to play like that.  And I will...someday...

Power of the Mind

I got this from yesterday's preaching.  I wasn't able to get who the author was but I feel it's worth sharing here.

" The mind is a garden that could be cultivated to produce the harvest that we desire.
The mind is a workshop where the important decisions of life and eternity are made.
The mind is an armory where we forge the weapons of our victory or our destruction.
The mind is a battlefield where all the decisive battles of life are won or lost."

That is how powerful the mind is.  Needless to say, we have to watch what we feed our minds.  As they say garbage in, garbage out.

I Am a Filipino

I remember Carlos P. Romulo's speech "I Am a Filipino." It was quite a lengthy piece that I had to memorize for speech class but I still have a lot of brain cells back in high school days so I was able to memorize it. To this day, I still remember one paragraph that says :

Of Leaves, Air, Mountains & Rivers

Last night, Lao Shi seemed to be in the lecturing mood.  That is a nice break after doing Tai ji Chuan 68 steps twice.  I just realized that it's a 30-minute drill! No wonder most of us were tired after that.  Tiredness doesn't come to me during class, but rather when I am already half way travelling home.  I feel sleepy and ready for bed and sometimes, I do fall asleep.
